After four successful summer rugby 7’s competitions, Widden are set to host their next 7’s tournament this Saturday 21st June 2008, with Hucclecote going into the tournament as current cup holders.

This year we have had entries from 18 clubs, Widden have entered two guest sides to even up the numbers in the group games. All teams are asked to register their sides at 10am, with a view to kick off at 10:30am.

There will be four groups of five, at the end of the pool stage the top two sides will progress into the cup quarter finals and the third and fourth placed teams will progress into the plate quarter finals, all teams in finishing last will progress to the bar.

2008 Groups

Group One : Cheltenham Saracens, Hucclecote, Matson, Minchinhampton and Widden Old Boys.

Group Two : Chosen Hill FP, Gloucester Old Boys ‘B’, Old Cryptians, Old Richians & Tredworth.

Group Three : Cheltenham CS, Coney Hill Utd, Dowtys, Gordon League and Ross-On-Wye.

Group Four : Dursley, Gloucester Old Boys ‘A’, Stroud and both guest sides “The All Blacks” and the “DLS Lions”.

All teams are reminded 12 registered players only (per team), and to arrive on time at 10am to register.

Widden are trying to get 2 referees per pool, they currently have six including A Stephenson, A Danks, E McWalter, A Payne, M Holmes and Henry Haw. If you could assist please call Mark Elton on 07909 680686, all refs are supplied with a shirt for the day, which they keep for assisting Widden.
